Directions By Rail

There are frequent trains to Pontypridd from Cardiff, Treforest, Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil operated by Arriva Trains Wales

The railway station in Pontypridd is a short walk, about 10 minutes, from the banstand in Ynysangharad Park

  • Leave the railway station by the main entrance, where the ticket office is located. If you arrived from the south of Pontypridd this is over the footbridge, down the stairs from Platform 1.
  • Cross the main road that runs past the front entrance to the station and proceed down the main shopping street (Taff Street) for 50m.
  • Just before the HSBC bank, opposite the Orange mobile phone shop, turn right down torwards the gated footbridge over the river. Cross the bridge and enter the park.
  • Continue along the road, in the direction you are already travelling, alongside the tennis courts.
  • Take the path off to the left, up towards the bandstand. The area around Winter Garden will be illuminated.

Directions By Road

Pontypridd is close to the A470 and about 8 miles from the M4 at Junction 32

From the South

  • Leave the A470 and take the first left from the roundabout.
  • Continue through three sets of lights past the railway station on your left and approach the roundabout in the right lane.
  • Take the last exit from the roundabout signed Town Centre.
  • A car park is located immediately on your left as you leave the roundabout.
  • Use the subway, to your right, to cross the road and continue down Mill Street until you reach the Nat West bank at the end.
  • Cross over the high street (Taff Street) and continue down torwards the gated footbridge over the river. Cross the bridge and enter the park.
  • Continue along the road, in the direction you are already travelling, alongside the tennis courts.
  • Take the path off to the left, up towards the bandstand. The area around Winter Garden will be illuminated.

From the North

  • Leave the A470 and take the fourth left exit the roundabout.
  • Ynysangharad Park is on your left as you leave the roundabout.

There are a number of car parks surrounding the park; please look at the map above. Most are Pay & Display. Some streets around the park have restrictions and some require residents permits.
